APEC economies' consumption of primary energy, which is all energy, including fuels, for electricity generation, is expected to increase by 40 percent between 2010 and 2035. Growth in cities like Da Nang, Viet Nam is driving this trend.Da Nang, Viet Nam is the third entrant into the APEC Low Carbon Model Town project. Joint efforts to help improve Da Nang's clean energy and low carbon policies will boost its beach tourism and fisheries industries which hinge on a pollution-free environment.APEC is working with governments to raise their technical capacities in areas such as green building, clean energy production and sustainable transport to promote "smart communities".
