Description

A myriad of services go into the food system, ranging from R&D, financial, communications, distribution, transportation to storage services. This policy brief provides a quick overview of the various services one will find in a food value chain and the stages where they come in through the use of three illustrative cases in the food sector. The brief also provides insights on which services are critical in the food system by analyzing the value added contribution of services in food exports as well as the backward linkage of the food and agriculture industries on services using input-output matrix.
