Video: Structural Reform Builds Inclusive Growth

APEC Secretariat Cebu, The Philippines | 06 September 2015

Structural reform removes barriers so that economies can put resources to more productive use and contribute to raising incomes and employment, say APEC senior officials ahead of the APEC Structural Reform Meeting, which begins on Monday in Cebu.

In a press briefing on Sunday, Philippine Economic Planning Secretary Arsenio M. Balisacan said that structural reform is crucial to maintaining growth momentum as he previewed priorities for the APEC Structural Reform Meeting that starts in Cebu on Monday.

In a separate report, Dr Emmanuel Esguerra, Deputy Director-General for the Philippine National Economic and Development Authority and Rory McLeod, Chair of the APEC Economic Committee, explain APEC members’ priorities for the APEC Structural Reform Meeting in the context of the APEC 2015 theme of building inclusive economies, building a better world.

They also discuss the significance of structural reform and provide concrete examples for how this approach can help improve the lives of people across the APEC region.
