Last Call: Media Registration for APEC SME Ministerial Meeting

Media registration is closing for the APEC Small and Medium Enterprise Ministerial Meeting in the central Philippine city of Iloilo.

 

The meeting will be hosted by the Philippines on 25 September and chaired by Philippine Secretary of Trade and Industry Gregory L. Domingo.

Small and medium enterprises account for over 97 per cent of all businesses, more than half of the work force and around 60 per cent of GDP in APEC member economies but a comparatively low proportion of their exports offering significant opportunities for growth across the region.

 

SME Ministers from APEC economies will take actions to promote the development of micro, small and medium enterprises and their increased participation into the different stages of international production and supply chains, in coordination with larger firms.

 

Issues in focus will include access to financing and private sector investment; building management capability, entrepreneurship and commercial innovation; market access and the lowering of trade barriers within the sector; business ethics; and natural disaster risk reduction.

Deadline for media registration: Friday, 18 September 2015

 

Registration procedures:

All media representatives wishing to cover SMEMM should register online at http://reg.apec2015.ph/media. Information provided should be accurate and complete.

 

Identification badges will be issued to accredited media representatives. 

 

Passport and visa requirements:

All foreign/visiting journalists are required to possess a valid passport with at least 6 month’s validity from time of travel and a temporary visitor’s visa. Upon receiving registration confirmation online, representatives can apply for a temporary visitor’s visa at their economy’s respective Philippine Embassy.

 

The following must be submitted upon application of a temporary visitor’s visa:

 

A. Passport

B. APEC Accreditation Confirmation Letter

C. Letter of Assignment 

 

Media events:

Introductory remarks during SMEMM, the family photo of Ministers and post-meeting Joint Ministers’ news conference will be open to accredited journalists.

 

Doorstop interview and photo opportunities will be available in conjunction with the meetings.

 

Media Center:

The International Media Center for SMEMM shall be operational from 20-25 September at the Amigo Terrace Hotel, Iznart St, Iloilo City Proper, Iloilo City, Philippines.

 

Note on media access:

All media representatives must be accredited and wear their identification badge to gain access to the meeting venue, facilities and specified events open to media.

 

Dress code: Smart casual
