Media Registration Open for APEC Informal Leaders’ Meeting

APEC 2021 Chair, New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern, will convene her fellow APEC leaders for an extraordinary meeting on Friday, 16 July 2021.

At the 2021 APEC Informal Leaders’ Retreat, leaders will share vital information that will help shape a regional response to COVID-19. This will be the first time leaders have met before the traditional APEC Economic Leaders’ Week at the end of the year.

Media registration and virtual media conference details:

The APEC Informal Leaders’ Retreat is a closed session, but Prime Minister Ardern will host a virtual media conference after the APEC Informal Leaders’ Retreat to share the meeting’s outcomes.

Media who have already completed the APEC 2021 accreditation process will be automatically registered for this event.

Unaccredited media who wish to participate in the virtual media conference, should apply for APEC 2021 media accreditation by emailing [email protected] and providing the following information:

• Title (Mr/Mrs/Miss/Ms/Dame/Sir/Dr/Prof)
• First name and surname
• Gender (male/female/gender diverse)
• Email address
• Mobile phone number, including international dialling code (for example +64). This phone number will be used to send a secure two-factor authentication code (by SMS message) to log into the APEC 2021 virtual meeting platform
• News organization
• Job title
• A photo of your business card or press card; or an email or letter confirming your employment

Approved applicants will receive an email of confirmation with further information regarding account set up. Once registered, members of the media will be accredited for the rest of the year and will have access to each virtual media event.

Accreditation also ensures access to all APEC Informal Leaders’ Retreat media materials, including media release, outcomes statement, media conference recordings, images and footage. The deadline for the APEC Informal Leaders’ Retreat media registration is Friday, 16 July 2021 06:00 AM (GMT + 12).
