Description
This report characterises the main issues with integration of stochastic and only partially predictable renewable energy technologies into distribution networks (i.e. distributed generation). It summarises the approaches currently being used to address them, including research and development activities. It then identifies best practices in addressing these issues, including non-technical approaches. It then outlines future research and development activities that may be required to fully integrate distributed generation into electricity networks of the 21st century. It finally discusses the factors that influence the potential for applying best practices throughout the APEC region.
