Description
This report was prepared under the project, Reducing Losses in Power Distribution through Improved Efficiency of Distribution Transformers, based on the surveys, extensive research and the discussion of participants at the APEC Workshop on Distribution Transformers. The long-term objective of the project is to improve the energy performance of distribution transformers in APEC economies, resulting in reduced electricity losses and GHG emissions. The specific outcomes of the project are to: build the capacity of policy makers in understanding impacts of adopting IEC 60076-20 technical specification for their economies in terms of electricity distribution loss reductions and Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emission reductions; and come up with key policy recommendations in consultation with key stakeholders, such as utilities, manufacturers, standard making bodies etc. This report provides recommendations, which are intended to utility and non-utility policy makers in adopting the new IEC standard.
