Description
This report is a summary of the Free Trade Area of the Asia-Pacific (FTAAP) Capacity Building Workshop on Competition Policy under the 3rd Regional Economic Integration Capacity Building Needs Initiative (REI CBNI): Sharing Good Examples of FTAs/EPAs initiated by Japan. Based on the outcomes of previous workshops, the workshop discussed "desirable elements" as well as "optional elements", and impacts of high-quality and comprehensive FTAs/EPAs on the economic circumstance through sharing concrete examples among participants.
The project has been implemented under the 3rd REI CBNI, which is a continuity from the 2nd CBNI outlined in the Beijing Roadmap for APEC’s Contribution to the realization of FTAAP adopted in November 2014. It also intends to ultimately lead to the achievement of trade and investment liberalisation and facilitation objectives articulated in the Osaka Action Agenda (OAA), particularly on competition policy.
