Description
This report provides a summary of the Workshop on Consumer Protection in Digital Trade held in Puerto Varas, Chile. The purpose of the workshop was to identify the challenges in consumer protection in the era of the digital economy and explore ways to enhance cooperation, including the possibility of creating a regional cooperation framework for regulation enforcement.
The workshop provided an opportunity for in-depth discussions, specifically on i) the challenges consumer protection agencies face in digital trade, ii) international norms and principles that APEC can refer to in order to improve consumer protection mechanisms, and iii) ways to promote regional cooperation in the field of consumer protection, including development a framework for enforcement cooperation.
