Description
This report describes trends of disaster mortality in APEC economies and disaster risk of APEC cities. It also analyses how traditional planning can integrate local sustainable development goal (SDG) indicators, as well as disaster resilience defined by the UN Disaster Resilience Scorecard for Cities. It shows that disaster resilience is an important instrument to attain SDGs. The report then identifies synergies between measures favouring development of sustainable energy measures improving disaster resilience, resilience against disasters of geological origin, and resilience against epidemics. Finally, the report describes data requirements for improving local sustainable development and disaster resilience. Basic showcasing of results uses local data on energy, CO2 emissions, GDP and population. Elaboration of local visions also requires local data on IT, research and innovation, whereas local in-depth sustainability transformation needs further local SDG indicators.
