Description

This case study shows that electrification projects for passenger transportation systems, such as the Metrobus BRT system, requires understanding current operating conditional to identify opportunities for the implementation of electromobility. These systems, due to their configuration and operation, present advantages when considering low-emissions bus technologies. To develop transition plans, it is necessary to consider the implementation of pilots to establish the initial parameters for the selection of the technology, recharging infrastructures, and new operating conditions. Optimizing the results of the pilot project can be iterative and scaling criteria for subsequent stages of deployment can also be evaluated.
