Description
A case-study on existing, under-construction, and planned high-efficiency, low-emission (HELE) coal-fired power generating units worldwide was conducted to highlight recent global advances towards the overall efficiency goals of 50 percent for electricity generation and even higher for cogeneration. Building on a review of earlier EGCFE work in this area, the case studies investigate plant design, coal types, and emissions control technologies and identify management best practices that assure optimum and reliable performance.
This detailed report documents case studies on recent advances in coal-fired power generation and cogeneration technologies and best practices. The case studies showcase units in operation, under construction, or planned in the APEC region. This project provides decision makers in the APEC region with information on state-of-the-art technologies and best operating practices for coal-fired power generation and cogeneration to aid them in making informed decisions on their coal-fired fleets and planning for future carbon reduction initiatives.
