Description
Greater penetration of solar PV (photovoltaic) and electric vehicles (EV) in the electricity grid can impose significant challenges on the grid in terms of voltage, frequency stability, and power quality. In addition, the combined PV and EV integration can also impact the loading and lifetime of network equipment like distribution transformers. These damaging effects would result in a need to provide additional investments for the upgrading of the distribution infrastructure and expanding generation capacity.
The report summarizes the review and assessment of the adoption of rooftop solar PV systems and EVs, and the impacts of PV and EVs on the distribution network. The review and assessment are based primarily on research works and survey questionnaires distributed to all APEC economies. The target audiences of the report are utilities, manufacturers, regulators, and policymakers.
