Most people living in rural areas of developing APEC economies currently do not have proper and regular access to energy. This affects the quality of living as well as the development of rural and remote areas in such economies. As such, the APEC Workshop on Promoting Renewable Energy for Rural and Remote Area Development was held in a hybrid format on 16-17 August 2022 with the objective of helping relevant economies and participants share information and experiences in using renewable energy to promote rural/remote area development as well as develop a set of recommendations on renewable energy policies for policymakers.
This Report summarized the Workshop proceedings, discussions and recommendations to APEC and member economies in using renewable energy to promote rural/remote areas.
