The APEC Secretariat seeks a Communications Manager to produce APEC's strategic messages, engage stakeholders, and partner with members across 21 economies in the Asia-Pacific.
The successful candidate will thrive in multilateral organization, work with cross-functional partners on developing content, running programs, and managing projects.
What does the job need to deliver? How is it measurable?
- Quality content in various media that advocates for policy priorities, the process, initiatives, and outcomes in a manner that would be easy to understand by various target demographics.
- Subject matter expert on editorial policy, reputational assessment, strategic messaging and strategic planning.
- Accurate advice to C-suite executives, senior management; project leaders and stakeholders on tools, policy communications and approaches to enhance policy frameworks.
- Amplify the forum’s priorities and initiatives.
- Build collaborative networks between headquarters and institutional stakeholders.
3. Key Accountabilities/Duties
- Tell APEC’s story; ensure meaningful understanding of its traditions, successes, challenges and vast potential by providing easily navigable, clear, consistent, relevant and tailored content and formats that connect with stakeholders and are accessible by the public.
- Stay on pulse with the aspirations and needs of stakeholders by conducting strategic communications planning.
- Champion dialogue with diverse sectors by engaging with key stakeholders in order obtain and adopt feedback on policies and services.
- Evaluate key audiences, conduct research, develop systems for monitoring feedback and compile data to measure ongoing effectiveness of communications programs.
- Research and write the speeches, statements, talking points and presentations for the C-Suite and senior management.
- Develop and disseminate (internal and external) key messages related to aspirations, vision, policies and outcomes, including illustrating the broad range of policy issues.
- Conceptualize, produce, execute and distribute multimedia content to educate key audiences.
- Stay on pulse with the aspirations and needs of stakeholders by conducting strategic communications planning.
- Formulate policies and procedures for the efficient management of communications activities.
Prepare budget; manage programs; procure resources; monitor; and report expenditures.
Education/Experience, skill sets and essential/critical competencies for the role.
Education | Master’s degree (preferred) in fields related to communications, international studies, economics or public policy, or equivalent experience. |
