Media Registration Open for 2016 APEC Economic Leaders' Week
Media registration is open for the 2016 APEC Economic Leaders’ Week on 14-20 November in Lima, to be chaired by Peru President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski.
Background:
After transforming the Asia-Pacific into the world’s growth engine and lifting hundreds of millions out of poverty, trade-driven growth has stalled and scrutiny of globalization is on the rise.
APEC Economic Leaders’ Week will bring together the Leaders, Ministers and Senior Officials of the 21 APEC member economies, which account for half of global trade and 60 per cent of world GDP, to shape the future of trade and globalization policy. Focus will be on improving growth and living standards for the region’s 3 billion people via the following priorities:
- Advancing regional economic integration
- Enhancing the regional food market
- Supporting small business development
- Boosting labor forces
Proceedings:
APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting (AELM): Lima Convention Center, 20 November
Chaired by Peru President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski and including the Leaders of the other 20 APEC economies, the meeting will provide strategic vision and directives for collaboration in the region over the coming year. Leaders will convene with representatives of the APEC Business Advisory Council the preceding day to discuss policy priorities and recommendations.
APEC CEO Summit: Grand National Theater, Lima, 18-19 November
A dialogue held in conjunction with the APEC Economic Leaders’ Week and organized by the private sector featuring a large number of the region’s Leaders and business heads.
APEC Ministerial Meeting (AMM): Lima Convention Center, 17-18 November
Hosted by Peru’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Ricardo Luna and Minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism Eduardo Ferreyros, and including both the Foreign Affairs and Trade Ministers from each of the other 20 APEC economies, the meeting will launch a suite of actions for building next generation trade and inclusive, sustainable growth.
APEC Concluding Senior Officials’ Meeting (CSOM): Lima Convention Center, 14-15 November
Guided by Ambassador Luis Quesada, 2016 Chair of APEC Senior Officials, the meeting will finalize new technical measures to boost regional productivity, job creation and social and economic development.
Key Media Events:
Opening remarks, family photos and news conferences for AELM, AMM and CSOM will be open to accredited media during the 2016 APEC Economic Leaders’ Week. Parallel briefings, interview opportunities and other media activities will also be available. Specific timing and venue details are forthcoming.

Registration Procedures:
All media representatives wishing to cover meetings and events during the 2016 APEC Economic Leaders’ Week, including the APEC CEO Summit, should contact: [email protected]
Identification badges will be issued to accredited media representatives.
Passport/Visa and Customs Requirements:
All foreign/visiting media representatives are required to possess a valid passport with at least 6 month’s validity from time of travel as well as a journalist visa when required. Those applying for a journalist visa can do so at the Peru embassy or consulate in their place of residence.
The following must be submitted upon application of a journalist visa:
- Passport
- Letter of Assignment
- Form for Temporary Entrance of Professional Equipment (if needed on duty)
Foreign/visiting media representatives who are not required to have a visa to travel to Peru but who need to enter with professional equipment must appear at the Peru embassy or consulate in their pace of residence to complete the Form for Temporary Entrance of Professional Equipment. This is required to enter Peru without inconvenience.
Media Center:
The International Media Center shall be operational from 14-20 November 2016 from 6:00am to 10:00pm at the Ministry of Culture (directly opposite the Lima Convention Center), Avenida Javier Prado Este 2645 – San Borja – Lima.
Note on Media Access:
All media representatives must be accredited and wear their identification badge to gain access to the meeting venue, facilities and specified events open to media.
