News Conference: Kuriyama on APEC Economic, Trade and Policy Outlook
Presented to senior officials earlier this week, Carlos Kuriyama, director of the Policy Support Unit, shared key findings from the APEC Regional Trends Analysis with the media in Lima on Wednesday. He addressed issues around moderating growth, regional economic risks, inflation trends, and monetary adjustments.
Kuriyama discussed projected growth estimates and the outlook for the region; trade restrictions, monetary policy and geopolitical issues; commodity prices, innovation and technology, and demographics; and sustainability and energy demand. As a result of an escalation of protectionist measures around the region, Kuriyama shared his take on geoeconomic fragmentation.
