This publication serves as the project report for the APEC OFWG 06 2021A project "Promoting Women's Role in Ocean Science towards Sustainable and Inclusive Ocean Governance." The report aims to identify barriers that prevent women from entering and succeeding in ocean science and related industries, and to recommend incentives and best practices being developed in this area to promote the attraction, retention, and development of women's participation in these sectors.
The publication contains a summary of the research, including statistics and in-depth interviews, as well as the results of the workshop, which included speakers' viewpoints and a field trip. The workshop took place in a hybrid format on 16-17 March 2023. Additionally, the report concludes with recommendations regarding the outcomes of both the research and the workshop.
