APEC Workshop on Microgrids for a Just Energy Transition

The report provides an overview of an October 2023 workshop on sustainably deploying safe microgrid technologies in APEC economies, including its key recommendations and all presentation materials. The report summarizes the discussions of public and private sector experts on significant developments in microgrid technologies, best practices and challenges to implementing microgrid projects, and the critical role of regulatory frameworks in enabling investment and access to microgrid technologies. The materials included in this report speak to specific case studies and serve as a resource for policymakers and organizations working to leverage emerging technologies to advance a just energy transition. The report also includes feedback from workshop participants on next steps and aims to inform the successful execution of future, related projects. The report was finalized based on feedback from economies that participated in the workshop in addition to other comments from APEC economies.
