Description
Our study on e-commerce adoption in SMEs across seven economies (Chile; Hong Kong, China; Mexico; Peru; Singapore; Chinese Taipei; and Viet Nam) found that adoption is increasing, but varies by economy. The most advanced economies in e-commerce are Hong Kong, China; and Chinese Taipei, while Peru and Mexico are the least advanced.
We found that e-commerce adoption has led to increased revenue and diversification of revenue streams for SMEs. However, there is still room for improvement in the implementation of integrated digital management systems.
Based on our findings, we identified three key areas for action:
• Increase internet access;
• Promote e-commerce adoption;
• Improve digital maturity levels.
We believe that by addressing these challenges, SMEs can fully leverage the potential of e-commerce to drive economic growth and innovation.
