APEC ensures that goods, services, investment and people move easily across borders. Members facilitate this trade through faster customs procedures at borders; more favorable business climates behind the border; and aligning regulations and standards across the region.

APEC has helped drive economic growth and cooperation across the Asia-Pacific by reducing trade barriers, improving the ease of doing business and strengthening connectivity among economies. These efforts have contributed to rising incomes, expanded trade and greater opportunities for businesses and communities across the region.

It is commonly accepted that the world has been facing unprecedented challenges posed by the impacts of climate change. In such a process, it is critical to transit to a climate-resilient future global economy and appreciate net zero or carbon neutrality commitments with energy transition playing an important role. The energy transition is a pathway toward transformation of the global energy sector from fossil-based to low-carbon by the second half of this century.
The APEC Workshop on Sustainable Energy Transition: Opportunities and Challenges was held in Ha Noi, Viet Nam on 23-24 November 2023 with the objective of helping economies and stakeholders to share about opportunities and challenges on energy transition towards a low carbon economy.
This Report summarized the Workshop proceedings, discussions and recommendation to APEC and member economies.
