This Summary Report provides an overview of the APEC project "Workshop on Strengthening capacities to use spectral signatures of remote sensing applied in environmental control processes for the identification of environmental impacts in the mining sector". It was held in Lima, Peru, on 16-17 August 2024, and gathered 111 participants from 12 APEC economies, including government officials, representatives of non-governmental organizations, international bodies, and academia, who work directly on remote environmental monitoring in the mining sector. The event featured 12 experts that offered valuable insights from diverse international perspectives, which enriched the exchange of knowledge, experiences. This collaborative learning environment helped strengthen participants' capacities in utilizing remote sensing in environmental control processes for identifying and managing the impacts of mining activities, which could be integrated into policy development and implementation to support more robust environmental regulations and practices. It also provided a crucial platform for enhancing collaboration among APEC economies.
