Description
This publication summarizes the results of APEC Project SCSC202 2024T, which aimed to strengthen regional efforts to harmonize Electronic Household Appliance standards and conformity assessments. The project successfully achieved its objectives by developing strategic approaches to regulatory alignment, harmonizing product risk categorization, addressing technical barriers arising from divergent conformity assessment procedures, and identifying relevant IEC standards for regulatory reference. The project outcomes demonstrated significant progress in enhancing participants’ understanding of harmonization strategies and best practices for ensuring product compliance with technical regulations. It also fostered stronger coordination between regulators, conformity assessment bodies, and industry stakeholders, reducing technical barriers to trade and enhancing mutual recognition among APEC economies. Ultimately, this project advanced regulatory coherence and trust across the APEC region. The lessons learned and recommendations developed through this initiative will inform future work under the APEC SCSC and JRAC, reinforcing APEC’s commitment to transparent, efficient, and inclusive trade facilitation through standards and conformity assessment.
