The APEC Secretariat, established on 5 February 1993 in Singapore, is housed at Heng Mui Keng Terrace, situated on the fringe of the National University of Singapore and Science Park, in close proximity to several international organisations and think tanks.
Since its inception, the Secretariat staff strength has grown with APEC's expanding membership and agenda, reflecting the latter's growing importance in the international arena. The Executive Director leads a dynamic and committed team of over 70 staff who come from APEC's 21 member economies which span four continents. Work at the Secretariat is broad, varied and challenging. Staff members support more than 70 fora and are exposed to a wide range of issues in the areas such as trade and investment liberalization, human resource development, intellectual property rights, sustainable development, climate change and telecommunications. They are also engaged in project management as well as corporate management including policy analysis, programming, communications and stakeholder engagement, finance, information technology and administration.
The Secretariat provides the best possible support to APEC, which aims to make a lasting and positive difference to the lives of the 2.7 billion people living in the Asia-Pacific. To do so, it recruits the sharpest and most creative and committed women and men from the region, who share its core values, to join its ranks. Successful candidates will be offered a competitive remuneration package as well as the opportunity to work in an enriching multicultural environment.

Policy Support Unit
The Policy Support Unit (PSU) is staffed by a number of professionals. The specific size of the PSU is determined by its financial resources and its tasks, which involve in-house work and technical work commissioned from external consultants. The PSU also draws on expertise in international and regional institutions and member economies, including APEC Study Centres. If there is a need for it and there are enough resources available, the PSU will organise and supply economic policy analysis and support to individual economies.
The PSU provides opportunities to gain hands-on experience in complex analysis, research, and policy development regarding issues that will contribute to increased living standards in APEC economies and increased trade and investment amongst them.
Recruitment is based on merit and open to candidates from APEC member economies. Employment and internship opportunities are posted here as they become available.
