This publication summarizes the outcomes of the APEC Workshop on Managing Child Health for Healthcare Workforce held in Makassar, Indonesia, in January 2026. The workshop brought together policymakers, experts, and practitioners from APEC economies to address key challenges in child health, including workforce shortages, service inequities, and system fragmentation. Discussions highlighted the importance of strengthening primary health care, improving workforce distribution, and integrating maternal and child health approaches, particularly within the first 1,000 days of life. Participants shared best practices such as digital health innovations, community-based interventions, and integrated care models. The workshop emphasized cross economy collaboration, data driven decision making, and interprofessional approaches to enhance service quality and access. Key outcomes include a set of actionable recommendations focusing on health system strengthening, digital transformation, capacity building, and sustained regional cooperation to improve child health outcomes across APEC economies.
