Transportation Working Group (TPTWG)

The APEC Transportation Working Group (TPTWG) is APEC's primary forum for cooperation on transportation policy across the Asia-Pacific region. It brings together member economies to advance safe, efficient, resilient, and sustainable transport systems that support regional connectivity and economic growth.

The TPTWG's work is guided by the following APEC frameworks: APEC Putrajaya Vision 2040 · Aotearoa Plan of Action · APEC Connectivity Blueprint · 2022 APEC Leaders' Declaration · Bangkok Goals

What We Do

The TPTWG advances its work through three core activities:

Policy Dialogue — Facilitating discussions on transportation policy, regulatory approaches, and cross-border connectivity, supporting more integrated and efficient regional transport systems.

Capacity Building — Delivering workshops, training, and knowledge-sharing initiatives to strengthen institutional and technical capabilities across member economies.

Sustainable and Innovative Transport — Promoting the transition toward low-emission transport, digitalization, and emerging mobility solutions, while enhancing system resilience and safety.

Strategic Focus Areas

Trade, Connectivity and Investment

The TPTWG supports the implementation of the APEC Connectivity Blueprint by promoting more integrated and resilient transport systems across the region. This includes developing transport policies that strengthen supply chain resilience and maintain high standards of safety and security, while supporting the transition to a low-emissions economy.

Inclusive and Sustainable Transport

The TPTWG advances inclusive growth by promoting the participation of women and underrepresented groups in transport policy, in line with the La Serena Roadmap for Women and Inclusive Growth. It also supports efforts under the Bangkok Goals on the Bio-Circular-Green (BCG) Economy to reduce the transport sector's environmental impact through policy, technology, and cross-fora collaboration, including with the APEC Energy Working Group (EWG).

Technology and Innovation

The TPTWG promotes the adoption of new technologies and innovative business models to improve transport outcomes. This includes building human capacity, identifying barriers to innovation, and strengthening collaboration with industry, academia, international organizations, and other APEC fora.
