Across the Asia-Pacific, environmental enforcement is undergoing a digital revolution. This report, led by Peru’s Environmental Assessment and Enforcement Agency (OEFA, Peru) under APEC's Digital Economy Steering Group, captures the outcomes of a high-level workshop where economies including Australia; Korea; Peru; Thailand; and others shared pioneering experiences in applying artificial intelligence, big data, IoT, and remote sensing to environmental monitoring. From predictive pollution tracking to automated risk detection in industry, agriculture, and fisheries, the cases presented reveal a decisive shift from reactive compliance to data-driven governance. Five critical enablers emerge: data interoperability, institutional governance, financial sustainability, multi-stakeholder engagement, and regional scalability. Building on these insights, the report delivers concrete policy recommendations offering a strategic roadmap for smarter, more resilient, and collaborative environmental management across the region.
