The project provides a comprehensive report and practical guide on trade secrets across APEC economies, helping them consider more effective frameworks and practices for trade secret protection.
The report introduces the following topics. First, it provides information on trade secrets in the APEC economies, including each economy’s legal framework, civil remedies, criminal remedies, economy-specific features, and cases and precedents. Second, it presents support policies for trade secret protection in each economy. Third, it summarizes and analyzes the results of a survey conducted on trade secrets.
The guidebook covers the following topics. First, it addresses managing trade secrets within a business, including key elements of trade secret management, classifying and grading business assets, contracts with employees, and workplace policies for employees. Second, it discusses developing a business intellectual property portfolio, including an explanation of patents and trade secrets, the differences between them, and strategies that provide practical direction for businesses.
